The constitution review process has entered the final and most crucial phase, following the launch of nationwide civic education exercise.

The Committee of Experts officially launched its civic education exercise at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre, KICC.

The Experts rolled out the programme in line with their mandate drawn from the Constitution of Kenya Review Act 2008, s.35 (1). On 6th of May, the Attorney-General set the stage for 30 days of civic education, when he published the Proposed Constitution of Kenya.

Under the theme Jisomee, Jiamulie, Jichagulie, the CoE advised Kenyans to consider provisions in the new law by reading, understanding and voting in the coming referendum. To facilitate civic education, the CoE has published the following training materials:

· A Handbook for Civic Education on the Proposed Constitution

· A Manual for Civic Education on the draft law

· A Curriculum for Civic Education and

· Education and Communication (IEC) material.

With trained 15 Provincial Coordinators (PCs) and 210 Constituency Civic Educators (CCEs) from the CoE, approved NGOs, professional groups, and Community Based Organizations, all spread across the country, Kenyans will now be informed on the contents of the Proposed Constitution in order to make informed choices, come the referendum. In his address, the Committee Chairman, Nzamba Kitonga, urged Kenyans to take advantage of the historic opportunity presented before them, to decide their future.
